Discovered a small hole-in-the-wall Japanese/Korean food cafe on one of the streets of Villa Aurora in Mabolo. Okinawa Cafe is located at the ground floor of Santoni’s Place. Owned by a Japanese and Korean, the menu reflects the same 🙂 Given the bitter history of Japan and Korea, it is great to see them partnering for the joint.
It’s not fancy as one would think. You don’t come here to drink coffee and lounge. There is no bossa nova music. No couches. No gimmicks. They do not have fraps and blends. All they have is brewed coffee but they offer good affordable food. You just order at the bar from the tarpaulin menu, sit on plastic chairs, eat and that’s it.
We ordered the Oyako Don (chicken with egg and rice), Bibimbab and fried chicken. We were not disappointed. Tasty and filling. Authentic asian taste without breaking the bank.
For the adventurous, order the Fundeki. Silkworms in sort of a black sauce. Didn’t order it. Moved on when I found out what it is.
