A Different Kind of Sydney Tour

Go ahead, try it, what is the first thing that comes into mind about Sydney for tourists? The Sydney Opera House, Bondi and Manly Beach, Darling Harbor. These are your common tourist must-see destination.

My interest is a bit different as I normally would like to take the less taken tourist path and really try to understand the story behind a city or a place, and doing the Exchange Commercial & Retail Sydney do it yourself walking tour gave me a glimpse of the central business district landmarks and the story behind what makes Sydney, well, for that matter, Australia, who and what it is.

The link i provided is a downloadable pdf file that allows you to trace famous landmarks in the cbd with tidbits of information about the buildings you see along the way. More than buildings, it tells the soul and story of the place. Be ready to stroll, stretch your legs, camera ready, eyes on the road and what is around you.

This may sound a bit weird but i found walking around on a weekend actually is much better because there are less people since there are no office workers, the downside is that you won’t be able to go in some of the buildings 🙂
