“The Kanamara Matsuri is centred on a local penis-venerating shrine. The legend being that a sharp-toothed demon (vagina dentata) hid inside the vagina of a young woman and castrated two young men on their wedding nights. As a result, the young woman sought help from a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon’s teeth, which led to the enshrinement of the item. This legend in Ainu language was published as “The Island of Women” by Basil Hall Chamberlain” – source Wikipedia
So the pandas stumbled across this picture in facebook and people are reacting to it without really understanding the context of the picture. A little google investigation showed that it is actually an annual festival in Hiroshima, Japan and is religious in nature. Ok, we will leave it at that. Ha ha ha.
Don’t judge or perceive the world based on your own understanding, the context means something else based on someone else’s point of view.
As they say, “once you go black, you never go back..” but in the Philippines, we have a saying, “once you go black… kulang ka sa sunblock.” – ha ha ha ha
This may be a good travel destination hmmmm
Picture credits go to SG Breaking News in Facebook 😆
the opinions expressed by the pandas is neither an endorsement or an official review of a place, establishment or service. the Pandas are just very opinionated.
